
MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Active Member
Ophthalmologists with practices substantially centered on uveitis for a minimum of five years following completion of a fellowship in ocular inflammation are eligible for membership. Also eligible are scientists, with 5 years or more of active research (clinical or lab based) in a field related to uveitis after completion of a PhD. An application form, and details of the application process are provided in the membership application section.
Active members are expected to pay annual dues set by the executive and approved by a quorum of members at the annual meeting. Payment of annual dues is expected starting the year after joining the IUSG.
Active members have access to the IUSG member’s only website and can participate in all uveitis activities, including participation in IUSG lead or sponsored research. They have voting rights, and can be elected to an executive office, as long as they have paid their annual dues and are in good standing. They can be part of any IUSG committee. They receive the IUSG official journal as part of their fees, and benefit from reduced rates at any IUSG organized meeting.

Associate Members
Associate members have a strong interest in uveitis. It is meant for MDs or researchers who do not meet the criteria for active membership and are located in developing nation or underserved area of the world. Uveitis/ocular inflammation must represent at least 20% of the clinical practice or research. She/he should also be recognized in their region as an authority in the field of ocular inflammation.
Associate members do not pay annual dues. They have no voting rights, but can attend the business meeting. On an exceptional basis, at the request of the executive, they can be part of IUSG committees. They can receive an electronic version of the IUSG sponsored journal upon payment of the reduced member’s rate. They have access to the IUSG member’s only website and can participate in all uveitis activities. They benefit from reduced rates at IUSG organized meeting.

Honorary Members
These are members of the IUSG that have reached retirement age but wish to retain an association with the IUSG. They are not required to pay dues but benefit from the reduced rates given to members in congresses organized by the IUSG. They can get an electronic version of the IUSG sponsored journal upon payment of a reduced member’s rate. They have access to the IUSG member’s only website. If a honorary member pays the annual dues, he/she will be entitled to a voting right in the year where they pay their membership dues.
Members who want to switch status have to request the change of status from the IUSG secretariat, or a member of the executive committee. The status is granted with a favourable majority vote of the executive committee.

Emeritus Members
These are senior members of the IUSG that have reached retirement age, and have made over the years, significant contributions to the society or to the field of ocular inflammation.
Emeritus members have voting rights, and can hold an elected office in the IUSG. They can be part of any IUSG committee. They have access to the IUSG member’s only website and can participate in all uveitis activities. They are not required to pay dues and benefit from the reduced rates given to members in congresses organized by the IUSG. They can get an electronic version of the IUSG sponsored journal upon payment of a reduced member’s rate.
